De Lorenzo Home Bathroom - Award Winner

As part of the restoration of our heritage-listed home, the bathroom was carefully renovated to honour its original character while providing the comfort expected of modern living. Every design decision was made to preserve the integrity of the home, with colours and materials inspired by the original leadlight windows.

The original cast-iron bath was restored and resurfaced before being painted to match the beautiful leadlight glass. That distinctive colour Resene Sassy became the inspiration for the ceiling, the wall colours and cornice. These complemented the original patterned floor tiles and the tones found in the original windows, creating a harmonious palette throughout the room.

The bespoke pendant light I designed specifically for the space and handcrafted using my mothers and my treasured crystal glasses, creating a unique feature that sparkles beautifully and adds a personal connection to the home's history. Traditional fittings, generous natural light and a carefully planned layout complete a bathroom that feels authentic, elegant and full of character.

The project received a Resene Colour Award in 2019, recognising the thoughtful use of colour to celebrate the home's heritage while creating a warm and distinctive contemporary interior.
