Wellington Bay House -Bathroom

I transformed an upstairs bedroom into a spacious family bathroom as part of a complete reconfiguration of the upper floor. The redesign also created a dressing room, study, spare bedroom.This resulted in a layout that made far better use of the available space and better suited the way the family wanted to live.

Rather than designing around standard bathroom cabinetry, I repurposed a mid-century sideboard as the vanity. The cabinet was carefully modified to accommodate the plumbing, and a granite benchtop was added to create a bespoke piece that combines generous storage with warmth, craftsmanship and character. Giving an existing piece of furniture a new purpose created a unique focal point and reinforced the timeless feel of the room.

The bathroom was designed to feel calm, welcoming and luxurious. A steam shower with integrated seating provides a spa-like experience, while the brass and tin freestanding bath introduces texture and individuality. Traditional wall paneling, handcrafted tiles and classic floor finishes balance contemporary comfort with enduring style, creating a space that feels both elegant and practical. The original concept drawings show how these ideas were developed and refined before construction began.

The result is a bathroom that demonstrates my belief that thoughtful planning, quality craftsmanship and creative reuse can produce interiors that are not only beautiful but also deeply personal and built to last.
